Natalia HuertaPsychologist and art therapist with transnational experience, and 13 years of experience working in the humanitarian sector in various international organizations such as IOM, ICRC, HIAS and MSF. The functions I have performed were results-oriented and involved flexibility, working in multidisciplinary teams and working under pressure in emergencies and regular projects, adapting to the needs of teams, contexts and patients. I have designed intervention plans based on the needs of the target population applying techniques that will help to enhance to potentiate results. I have worked on projects focused on migrants issues, refugees, families of missing persons, IDP¥S, victims of political violence, women, children, homelessness, LGBTQI+ population and people in extreme poverty. My work has given me the opportunity to understand other realities in countries such as Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Spain, Brazil, Bolivia, Guyana, Nauru, Argentina, and Hong Kong.
My main responsibilities have encompassed providing psychological care, attending and engaging in community and meetings involving governmental entities and stakeholders. Also, I have been focused on supervising local psychologists, and conducting training in Psychological First Aid to volunteers from other organizations. According to specific requirements, I have designed programs and strategies targeted at addressing and preventing issues like sexual violence among other issues, for children, teenagers and adults living in refugee camps. My role has been to accompany multidisciplinary teams working in demanding or high-stress contexts, providing technical advice to increase the impact of their work. My field experience has given me the tools and sensitivity to design interventions in challenging contexts. I have observed that interventions through art therapy allow to re-establish communities, mobilizing personal resources, and inviting healing throughout the group. |
Stéphanie JanainaI am a dancer and choreographer who has pursued studies in dance, visual arts, film and gender equality. The focal point of all my research processes revolves around fragility in its different manifestations between resistance, violence, disappearance and forced displacement.
For 12 years I have been conducting creative laboratories for children, adolescents and adults, always with the urgency of generating a deeper approach to resilience in contexts of vulnerability and diversity. The main objective of my laboratories is to guide participants in exploring different forms of artistic and bodily communication. Although all are based on a commonstructure that I have developed over the years, each workshop I conduct becomes a research project that is adapted to a specific context and group of participants. All my labs have been developed and shared in a variety of contexts such as public and rural schools, shelters, domestic and intra-family violence centres, refugee camps, youth and art centres, art therapy structures, as well as in various museums and professional dance companies. Traveling and learning from diverse geographies and cultural contexts such as Latin America (Chile, Uruguay, Mexico), Europe (France, Spain, Italy, Holland) and Asia (Palestine, Hong Kong and India). Since 2011, I have had the opportunity to share these spaces with children and women in situations of violence, children on the autism spectrum, people in prison, people in extreme poverty, LGBTQI+ children and adults, victims of political violence, refugees and migrants. Over the years, I have developed interpersonal and communication skills that enable me to foster inclusive environments through active listening, empathy and artistic practice in complex and changing environments, adapting and integrating quickly into diverse organisational structures. My goal is to create an enriching and meaningful methodology to elaborate creative experiences that allow a daily practice wherein the body's gestures and movements guide us to discover artistic and healing tools. |
